His VA is actually hitting a perfect balance here for me. The changes to Isaac as a character really worked for me and I didn't think I'd care either way. A small touch here, a tweak there and the way it all comes together only adds to its greatness. It doubles down on everything that made the original cool and expanded in subtle ways that all add up to a "oh shit." bigger picture. I've been in here praising this game a lot already but good lord. Okay so I just finished the game on Hard andd instantly played another hour in NG+. Just really disappointing when a good game pulls the rug out from under you like this and wastes your time. I told him to just sit on it for now and once he's calmed down tomorrow (since it's late now) if he still wants to return it then we will. The game was a 10/10 for seven hours and now it totally fucked him, and he's understandably fuming. I tried to get him to just restart but he's pissed because of the principle of it. He's beyond pissed, we just bought this today and if we can't fix it he wants to return the game. Is there any way to fix this or is his save file ruined?
He has no prior saves, as he thought he was missing something so he explored elsewhere and the autosave wiped anything prior to this. This transmission never occurs in his game, and he's locked out completely, halting his progress. Upon reaching the Medical area, Isaac walks through a door where a radio transmission is supposed to play, or so I'm told, which unlocks a door labeled "Stand By". My fiancé is playing this on PS5 and has come across a gamebreaking bug regarding a door in Medical in Chapter 5.
